Kat and Anna are two scientists who came to our school last Thursday. They showed us lots about science.

Butane Gas

Kat came to our school with Questacon. She is a scientist. Mrs. Lowen put bubble mixture in her hands and then Kat put butane gas in the bubble mixture on her hands. Then Kat got a huge match and there was a little bit of fire. Kat put the match in her hands and Mrs. Lowen’s hands were on FIRE!!!!!!!

Mrs. Lowen’s hands didn’t get burnt because the bubble mixture protected her hands.

Making Bubbles

Today we saw a science show. The bit I liked best was when Kat told us about bubble blowers. First she used a little bubble blower. Then she kept on going up with all the sizes. All of the bubbles turned out like spheres. Then she got out a cube blower. When she pulled it of the mixture it stayed in the shape of a cube. She had to pop all of the sides to make it a sphere shape. It was fun learning about bubble blowers.

Catching Bubbles

Chelsii was chosen to try and catch a bubble with dry hands but every time she tried to catch it the bubble popped. Then she got some bubble mixture on her hands. When she tried to catch it this time she caught it.

Making Noises

The Tube
Tom volunteered to make sounds. Tom made the tube make a funny sound by swinging it around.

The Whoopee Cushion
When Anna sat down on the Whoopee cushion it made a rude sound.

The Hot Pipe
Anna put a metal pipe on a little stove. When it was hot she held it straight up and it made a deep humming noise. When she put it horizontal it stopped making the noise.
