On the 14th of November, some of the grade 5/6’s from Wang PS went to the Barr Reserve for the Kanga Cricket Carnival.
The 17 kids were split into 2 teams and our team was called Wangaratta 1. It consisted of Josh, Ben, Tim, Joel, Wade, Will, Jaimon and Jay.
It was a good start to the day, with a 76 run win over the highly fancied Wahgunyah. The scores were 146 to 70.
Our second match was against Wangaratta 2(our other Chisholm Street team) and we came out victors, by 18 runs. We won 114 to 96.
Then we had our last qualifying match, against the 3rd Wang West team. We fought hard but it ended a draw. We called for a recount and we actually won by 10 runs, 120 to 110.
In the final for third and fourth we were drawn to play against Beechworth 1. We played our hearts out, only to lose 96 to 126.
So out of the 18 teams that competed, we came 4th and were really happy with our efforts.
