5/6 Bike Hike 2007

On Thursday the 19th of April, Grades 5/6L and 5/6Pwent on a bike hike to Glenrowan McDonalds. We had to be at school by 9:00 in the morning. We left at about 9:30 am, I was in group one. We were riding nicely and then we came to the hill to go down to the kindergarten. We all went very fast. Then we went up the big hill. We went across a couple of bridges and also under some. It took us about 45 minutes on the bike track until we got to ride on the open road.

We were riding for about an hour when we got to our resting spot. I hadn’t been in the support vehicle yet so I was happy, but I think someone else was in it. We had some morning tea. I was so happy because I got to eat my big juicy green apple. That gave me enough steam to get the rest of the way which took us about another hour. When we were riding for about half an hour we got to the nicest smoothest road we’d came across through the whole trip, but it only lasted about 2 minutes. We were riding for probably another 10 minutes along a nice straight road when we turned a corner and rode for a little longer until we saw a house on fire, well we didn’t actually see the flame but we saw the smoke. We finally saw the golden arches, we were there. We stayed for about 45 minutes and then left again. By that time everyone’s legs were sore. We made it to the resting spot and had some afternoon lunch and a drink then left for school. We had to stop a couple of times, but we were on the homestretch when we went over the last bridge and went down the last hill. We also had to go up the last hill, but we made it. We had to fold up our bibs to get an icy pole. I was first in line and it was all worth it.
