One way to save natural resources is to recycle things instead of throwing them away. Recycling means changing waste into something that can be used again, or made into other things. On Thursday June 7th grades 3 and 4 visited Wangaratta’s Recycling Centre. The process from our home collection to sorting methods for separating to individual types of materials was observed, and samples of changed reused products shown. We were very impressed with how much this Centre is helping our local environment.

These poems are in response to poetry writing with Robert Trickey.
RUBBISH
Vermin landfill TIPS wasting abundantly
Old sharp GLASS shining beautifully
Black steamy POLLUTION moving gustily
Smashed leaky ALUMINIUM recycling rapidly
Crinkled wrecked PLASTIC flying aimlessly
Smelly gross LITTER floating untidily
Drought destroyed ENVIRONMENT dying dangerously
Green wheelie BINS collecting regularly

RUBBISH
Garbage landfill TIPS covering permanently
Wrinkled shiny PLASTIC BAGS floating harmfully
Huge helpful RECYCLING CENTRE smelling frightfully
Sharp dangerous GLASS lying untidily
Precious healthy ENVIRONMENT moving happily
Yucky mouldy BINS staining carelessly
Colourful foul LITTER disorganising messily
Cloudy black POLLUTION swirling helplessly
