On the 11th and 12th of March 2008, the Grade 3/4s, their teachers and some parent helpers, stayed in the historic town of Beechworth. We went there for a school excursion to learn about local history, have fun and to enjoy a great learning experience.

We stayed at the Old Priory which is a beautiful old building. The people were very hospitable and organized our meals and activities while we were there.
We visited many places including the powder magazine, the cemetery, the RSL,the courthouse, MB Cellars and Burke Museum. We also had a guided walking tour around town and we were visited by the people who run Stone Age gems.
They showed us a variety of different gem stones and we all purchased one as a souvenir.
Through the various activities we discovered many interesting facts about Beechworth’s history, the gold rush and lots about Ned Kelly.
One of the highlights of the trip was the reenactment of one of Ned Kelly’s trials which some students were able to participate in.
It was a great camp enjoyed by all and welearnt heaps about the history of Beechworth.
A big thank you goes out to all parents who volunteered their time and came to Beechworth.(Written by 3/4’s as a group.)
