Enrolment

The start of primary school is an important time for children and their families.

Children who make a positive start to school are most likely to feel:

  • Comfortable, relaxed and valued

  • Positive about themselves as learners and have a sense of belonging to the school community

  • At Wangaratta PS we create a 'sense of belonging' by taking the time to get to know each child and their family through our detailed transition program.

If you are interested in enrolling at our school, please download and complete an enrollment form or request a Form from our school office at 19 Chisholm Street, Wangaratta or call (03) 5721 2658.

Our school follows the Department of Education’s Enrolment Policy for the enrolment, placement, and transfer of students. The Wangaratta Primary School zone is available on findmyschool.vic.gov.au. This website hosts the most up-to-date information about Victorian school zones from 2020 onwards. Students residing in this zone are guaranteed a place at our school, which is determined on the basis of your permanent residential address.

All other applications will be considered subject to available space and prioritised according to:

  1. students with a sibling at the same permanent address who are attending the school at the same time

  2. all other students in order of closeness of their home to the school.

The Department provides guidance through the School Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their designated neighbourhood school and the freedom to choose other schools, subject to facility limitations. You can find more information and answers to frequently asked questions on the Department’s website under School zones.
